Trimble Launches New Version of Trimble CoPilot with Enhanced User Interface & More Features
For decades, commercial drivers and fleets around the world have depended on Trimble CoPilot for turn-by-turn guidance tailored to their drivers, vehicles and loads. Now, we’re excited to launch a new era in commercial navigation with the latest version of CoPilot: our completely revamped, even more user-friendly navigation app for Google Android-based devices.
This new release features a major overhaul of the app’s user interface, designed to enhance safety, efficiency and users’ overall driving experience. CoPilot’s sleek, modern design leverages Trimble’s proprietary map data to provide a more consistent on-screen map experience. The new CoPilot provides a user-friendly, streamlined routing and mapping experience and added functionality.
Improved Display Options – New landscape and portrait modes provide a better experience for drivers using tablets, so they can see the road as they prefer.
Information at a Glance – More data, including trip details, maps and route information, are displayed to enhance safety by eliminating the need for drivers to interact with or switch between multiple screens.
Map-First Application – A new map display provides drivers with additional visual cues and the ability to switch between various display options, including satellite imagery, 3D buildings and detailed house numbering.
Streamlined Options – Important controls and menus are placed within easy reach for the driver.
Improved Accessibility – The new version of CoPilot features a lighter and cleaner color scheme to improve readability, light/dark mode for day and night, traffic bar, and a single search bar to quickly locate an address.
Additional Enhancements – Optimal break time suggestions and HOS-compliant break locations, advanced visibility into expected dwell times, Android Auto infotainment system connectivity, and faster map downloads due to an almost 90% decrease in file size.
Keeping Drivers Safe and Efficient
In addition to the quality-of-life and technical enhancements above, CoPilot also now includes predictive parking for United States and Canadian customers. Live parking insights help drivers plan efficiently before arriving at a location or truck stop. Predictive Parking allows drivers to see vital information such as peak hours and parking availability. Upon arriving at a location, drivers will also have the ability to provide feedback on parking.
Also new to CoPilot is enhanced trip planning. Leveraging Trimble’s web service data, CoPilot’s Enhanced Trip Planning feature revolutionizes trip planning by harnessing the power of the Cloud to pull vital information such as weather conditions, facility operation hours, Hours of Service (HOS)-compliant stop locations and amenities, and toll costs. CoPilot combines the reliability of onboard mapping and routing (so it works even when a device loses network connectivity) with real-time services including traffic, weather, live search functionality and over-the-air map updates.
