Trimble is Proud to Volunteer with Wreaths Across America

Since 2016, Trimble Transportation has supported Wreaths Across America, whose mission is to remember fallen veterans, honor all who have served, and teach children the value of freedom. On National Wreaths Across America Day, which takes place every December, Trimble employees will help to sponsor and lay wreaths of remembrance on the graves of fallen heroes.

While Trimble has been a part of several philanthropic efforts throughout the years, our involvement with Wreaths Across America holds a certain special significance for those who have participated. As it is a family-centric event in nature, many Trimble employees can incorporate their loved ones into the Wreaths Across America ceremonies that take place at more than 1,400 locations. 

Director of People eXperience for Trimble Transportation, Sara Benjamin, has volunteered with Wreaths Across America each year and has brought her children with her to help lay wreaths at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio. “My grandfather was in the military and is buried there,” she said. “He earned a Purple Heart for his service.” 

In laying a wreath on his gravesite each year, Benjamin says she wants to be able to honor and remember her grandfather’s bravery. “I think we often take things like freedom for granted,” she said. As part of Wreaths Across America’s mission is to teach children the value of freedom through the stories of each fallen hero, Benjamin said she hopes that her children will not only come to know who her grandfather was, but also take the lessons they learn about freedom with them as they grow older. 

People eXperience Partner for Trimble Transportation, Natalie Ruggiero, has also volunteered her time to help support the mission of Wreaths Across America. “All three of my grandfathers served in the military,” Ruggiero said. “I go to this event every year with my family because I want to honor my grandfathers and others like them.” 

In addition to placing wreaths at the gravesites of her grandfathers, Ruggiero stated that she and her family help to sponsor and place wreaths on the graves of other veterans, wherever they may be needed. As a proud supporter of the organization, Ruggiero has also previously presented Wreaths Across America with a sponsor check at the ceremony site located near the Trimble office in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. 

Dedicated to transforming the way the world works, Trimble is doing so quietly through its involvement with this philanthropic effort. Volunteering with Wreaths Across America is not only a great way to support and honor all who have served; it also serves to foster inclusion.

With over 200 trucking companies volunteering their time and talent each year, Trimble’s involvement with Wreaths Across America “provides a direct link to our customers,” and also “helps connect all our employees - whether they are in the office or working remotely,” Benjamin said. “It’s a great way to connect with and include all kinds of people during the holiday season.”
