Five Key Takeaways from Our 2020 in.sight Virtual Conference + Expo

In August, we hosted the 2020 in.sight virtual user conference + expo for three days of engaging and informative experience. This edition of our annual event was hosted online and featured a comprehensive set of Trimble leaders and customers, all connecting in our virtual platform to learn from each other and find out new ways to utilize technology to maximize performance and efficiency.

Although we wish we could have been together in person in 2020, the virtual experience provided numerous ways for us to interact, have fun, network and connect with like-minded users from across the world.

Whether you were able to join us at in.sight or weren’t able to make it, here are five takeaways from the 2020 event:

 

1. The Future of the Supply Chain is All About Collaboration

In the Opening Session on Monday, August 24, 2020, attendees were greeted by Trimble leadership, including Trimble CEO Rob Painter and Transportation executives James Langley and Dan Clark. 

 

 

Each speaker’s remarks were centered on Trimble’s continued commitment to enabling increased connectivity across the supply chain, creating solutions that encourage more direct collaboration among carriers, shippers and intermediaries. This includes building on its acquisition of Kuebix to further bring shipper and carrier visibility into freight demand and capacity.

The Opening Session also featured several Trimble customers, each of whom spoke about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on their respective businesses. Bison, Central Oregon Truck Company and Maverick provided their unique perspectives on the pandemic and the important role of technology in keeping their operations nimble during these challenging times. Each customer also highlighted how technology can enable further collaboration and visibility, both during the pandemic and into the future.

 

2. Trimble Customers Are Incredibly Innovative

Another important aspect of in.sight is to recognize the remarkable work of our customers to leverage Trimble technology to advance their operational efficiency and performance. 

In the Customer Appreciation Celebration on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, we announced the winners of our Ovation Awards, which recognize customers that have best-leveraged technology to improve areas such as integrations, custom-tailored applications, process implementations and training methods.

The theme for 2020's in.sight is “We Are One” and signifies how we must work together to improve the connectivity and performance of the supply chain. From improving back-office processes and reducing paperwork, to streamlining asset maintenance and increasing driver safety on the road ‒ each of these innovative companies embody this theme and we are proud to call them our customers!

 

3. Important Trends Are Reshaping the Industry

To further support the theme of “We Are One”, in.sight is also a great opportunity for attendees to learn more about important industry trends that may have an impact on their business. To help support this education and engagement, this year’s event featured a wide range of industry speakers. 

This included regulatory-based sessions led by representatives from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Ontario Trucking Association as well as more business-focused sessions designed to help attendees improve awareness of industry trends and ways to improve how they do work within their organization.

 

4. We Are Committed to Advancing All Parts of Transportation

Throughout the conference, we also facilitated roundtable-style discussions with some Trimble leadership. Each of these executive forums were aimed at providing attendees with facetime with us, creating an opportunity to ask us questions, hear about our organizational priorities and provide feedback on our technology platforms.

From improving how customers do business with us and advancing our current portfolio of solutions, to delivering on our strategy to facilitate supply chain collaboration, our slate of executive forums were a great chance for us to hear from customers and we look forward to building on that dialogue in the weeks and months ahead.

 

5. Making a Bucket List is Important for Life ‒ and for Work 

The three-day event wrapped up on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, and attendees left with some inspirational words from keynote speaker Ben Nemtin. Ben’s keynote address was centered on the concept of “New Leadership” and the importance of creating a bucket list, both for your personal life and in your career.

In Ben’s remarks, he detailed how organizations can help support employees become better versions of themselves through pursuit of their goals, as well as how that pursuit can help improve productivity and engagement across the organization.

Attendees left in.sight inspired on how to achieve these dreams, personally and professionally, getting tips on remaining accountable to reach their goals and how to make meaningful changes in their life.

 

Building Off of the in.sight Experience

Although in.sight was online in 2020, the event provided a great opportunity for people throughout the transportation supply chain to get together, engage and learn all from the comfort and convenience of their computer screens.

While we are calling it a “wrap” in 2020, that doesn’t mean the educational opportunities have to end.
