Middlesboro Coca-Cola’s Move to TMT SaaS for Fleet Maintenance Generates Measurable Savings

Middlesboro Coca-Cola Bottling, a fifth-generation, family-owned business founded in 1904 and headquartered in Middlesboro, Kentucky, provides bottled beverages to retailers and distribution centers in 26 counties. The company fleet, which operates six days a week, includes 235 vehicles ranging from vans to trucks and Class 8 tractors and trailers.

The Challenges

A user of TMT Fleet Maintenance on a client-based server since 2015, Middlesboro Coca-Cola was using the software to manage its daily service operations. The solution, however, was not able to integrate with the company’s on-site fueling platform, requiring manual entry of vehicle mileage.

The fleet operation also required new tire and parts management capabilities and the ability to automatically generate repair orders from DVIRs.

Additionally, with sales volume growing, there was the need to free up space on existing servers for expanding business processes.

The Solution

Middlesboro Coca-Cola originally adopted TMT Fleet Maintenance for managing its service operation based on a reference from another Coca-Cola bottling partner and a favorable review of its features.

Recently, the company switched to the SaaS version of TMT Fleet Maintenance. In its shop, three technicians use the software on workstations to report service activity, and it is accessed by the company’s fleet coordinator and fleet manager for management processes and reporting capabilities. The software includes new modules that integrate with the company’s fueling platform and a tire management solution.

Middlesboro Coca-Cola is planning to implement TMT Fleet Maintenance modules for using DVIRs in its on-board Geotab systems to automatically create repair orders. Additionally, the software’s module for managing its $160,000 parts inventory will be linked to a Navistar system for automated purchasing.

The Results

With the SaaS version of TMT Fleet Maintenance, time and cost savings are being realized at Middlesboro Coca-Cola through an integration with the fleet’s fueling platform that is saving the company’s lube technician two hours per week of manual mileage data entry.

The tire module that provides tread and casing life data is lowering costs through better maintenance and specification decisions.

Additional time savings and shop productivity improvements are expected once Middlesboro Coca-Cola enables integrations that automate parts purchasing and repair order creation based on DVIRs.

There is also a savings from transitioning to the SaaS version of TMT Fleet Maintenance by not having to invest in additional server capacity to handle growth.

“Transitioning to the SaaS version of TMT Fleet Maintenance has led to measurable savings by eliminating manual data entry tasks, lowering costs and not needing additional server capacity.”
